  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A delicious and elegant Baked Goat Cheese with Fig Jam: lightly seared goat cheese rounds baked until warm, topped with fig jam, pecans, and fresh sage. A perfect sweet-savory appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz goat cheese log
  • 2 oz fig jam
  • Chopped pecans (amount to your liking)
  • Chopped fresh sage (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Crostini, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the Cheese: Slice the goat cheese log into 1-inch thick rounds.
  • Sear the Cheese: Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Carefully arrange the goat cheese rounds and sear for 1–2 minutes until lightly browned.
  • Top and Bake: Remove from heat, then top each goat cheese round with about 1 tablespoon of fig jam, chopped pecans, and fresh sage. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, until the goat cheese is warm and slightly softened.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with crostini.

Notes

  • Searing: Searing the cheese rounds briefly creates a golden crust and helps them hold their shape during baking.
  • Serving Hot: This appetizer is best served piping hot from the oven while the cheese is still soft and melted.
  • Pecan Toasting: Toasting the pecans in a dry pan for a few minutes before chopping them will significantly enhance their flavor and crunch.
  • Jam Options: You can substitute fig jam with raspberry jam, apricot preserves, or even hot honey for a different sweet-savory pairing.
  • Make Ahead: Slice the goat cheese and chop the pecans and sage ahead of time. Assemble and bake just before serving.
