Description
- The Best Smoked Salmon Dip: a delicious and easy 10-minute dip with rich smoked salmon, a creamy base, briny capers, and fresh herbs. A perfect gourmet appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14 oz smoked salmon
- 1 celery stalk, finely diced
- 1 small shallot, finely diced
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp sour cream
- 2 tsp smooth Dijon mustard
- 2 tsp non-pareil capers
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped chives
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped dill
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped tarragon
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine smoked salmon, celery, shallot, mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, capers, chives, dill, tarragon, lemon zest, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix and Season: Use a fork to break up the salmon and mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Chill and Serve: Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld. Serve chilled with crackers, chips, veggies, or spread on toasted bread.
Notes
- Marinating: Do not skip the chilling time! It allows the flavors to fully develop, resulting in a much richer and more cohesive dip.
- Salmon Quality: Use high-quality smoked salmon for the best flavor. Cold-smoked varieties work beautifully.
- Herb Freshness: Using fresh herbs like dill, chives, and tarragon is key to the vibrant, fresh flavor of the dip.
- Spice Adjustment: Start with the suggested amount of seasonings and adjust to your taste. A little cayenne pepper can add a touch of heat.
- Serving Options: For a more elegant presentation, serve the dip in a beautiful bowl garnished with extra fresh dill and chives.
